The MAG weekly Blog by Lydia, every friday 1700 hrs. Nr 10 26th August 2022
This week's contributors: Lydia, Dore Fasolati, this week's subjects: Holiday in Eswantini, Japanese designers pass away, Ageless, Boabab restaurant, Umami, NFT Art.
Want to holiday in Eswantini? Huh**?** Well, they have some wildlife, and Johannesburg is only 420 km away. Since 2018 Eswantini is the new name for Swaziland. Few know, even Microsoft-word does not recognize the word. To celebrate their 50 years of independence they got rid of their colonial name. But they have more serious problems than names. Women have virtually no rights and cannot own property, so many are hardly surviving, and end up as sexworkers. 30 % Of women have HIV. Long live independence?
It has been a bad week for fashion addicts with the passing away of Issay Miyake (84) and Hanae Mori (96), both Japanese designers.
Issay Miyake is maybe best known for re popularizing pleats and creating the world famous perfume L'Eau d'Issey.
Hanae Mori was one of the few female Japanese designers to make it to the Paris runways and she became sensational in 1970 when she designed miniskirts into uniforms of the Japan Air Lines stewardesses.
Note how creative people often live long, it gives a sort of renewable energy.
Ageless We are living in times where anti aging and beauty products have a vast market amongst both young people and aged women. Be it skin lightening or toning creams , lotions and oils, makeup trends have also become a must. My question is “do women know what these products really contain or are they just ignorant about their hidden side effects? The Zeromercury Working Group found that out of 271 skin lighteners tested almost half contained high doses of the poisonous mercury.
Every damsel wants to look like a super model but are you willing to put in the effort!? A model’s beauty routine is as simple as ABC. It’s undisputed that getting quality sleep aids in boosting your metabolism which contributes to looking healthy and young all the time. It is during sleep that your hormones repair and rejuvenate your body.
Eating organic whole foods. This stimulates one’s immune system aiding in the production of antibiotics and antioxidants which provide the body with a youthful glow. Maintain a healthy gut and your skin’s metabolism and headspace will reap the rewards. Stay away from processed, packaged foods which mostly lead to chronic health diseases and disorders. Stay hydrated; our bodies need about 60% of water to function. At least 2 liters or 8 cups of water a day will work magic for a clear skin. Staying active or working out will keep your metabolism working for you. Exercise is great for your body and mind and a sound mind is equal to an amazing skin. Replace makeup with facials and moisturizers. Your skin is bound to break out from the excessive makeup and cause your face to wrinkle up and age quickly.
Use face scrub, face mask and night face cream. Also try body scrub, body moisturizers for your skin and our hair oil. Multi- treatment like scrubbing and masking is a skin savior. Balance is key to keeping a clear and healthy skin not forgetting to steam and moisture after stripping the skin of its oils and nutrients. Steam helps to open up your pores to receive relevant nutrients.
Ice helps to firm up your skin in a pinch. Icing your face at night between 3 to 5minutes helps blood circulate to your face and look much better. It also helps de-puff and prevents wrinkles and dark eye circles. Splash up some icy water on your face and enjoy some skincare goodness. It also helps in keeping firm breasts.
Many want to slim and are suffering a lifelong struggle of hunger, diets, workouts. Yes these can help, but the very main thing is: eat less, and avoid sugared drinks like coke and malta, Simple. And cheap.
We had dinner at the Boabab restaurant at Peduase Valley Resort, a friend had recommended the Lasagna, and he was right. But we had to leave when the stank of the insecticide they were spraying became too much.
Umami. At school we learned that we can taste salt, sweet, acid/sour and bitter, but in 1908 Kikunae Ikeda (+71) , a Japanese Chemist discovered a fifth taste which he called umami. How does that taste? try, it tastes umami. Chewing a tomato for 10 minutes somehow gets you there. It also can pop up if you chew good organic meat for a long time.
NFT Art. A non-fungible token is a record on a blockchain which is associated with a particular digital or physical asset. [1] The ownership of an NFT is recorded in the blockchain, and can be transferred by the owner, allowing NFTs to be sold and traded. NFTs can be created by anybody, and require few or no coding skills to create.[2] NFTs typically contain references to digital files such as photos, videos, and audio. Because NFTs are uniquely identifiable assets, they differ from cryptocurrencies, which are fungible. Get it? Some people are paying millions for NFTs, but my view is that this will not last.
