Sports and make-up After LVMH's (the world's biggest luxury brand company) purchase of Rennes Football Club in France and its recent link up with Balenciaga Fashion of Spain, of which we still have to see the impact on both, I now saw a very sharply dressed lady running the 200-meter sprint, complete with hair and eyelash extensions, fishnet stockings, a tattoo, a wide necklace, and makeup and very nicely cleaved top. Already some men were admiring recently retired tennis Ace Serena Williams' buttocks and bosom more than her game, but with 22-year-old American Sha Carri Richardson's appearance now also becoming as interesting as her run, I can foresee all sports Aces soon to be attractively dressed and made up a new trend. And as much as some poorly voiced female singers think they can still steal the show by coming onto stage half undressed, more is to follow, watch especially in the amateur sports leagues where they don’t have much sport to show for. And we'll soon see lots of make-up products made for sports especially.

French restaurants in Accra Someone recently said jokingly that once you put Le or La in front of a restaurant's name it means an extra 1 before the final invoice amount. So 300 GHS becomes 1300 GHS. This is not too far from the truth for our top French restaurants, La Chaumiere, Le Magellan, and Le Tandem, who charge same prices as a good French restaurant in Europe would do. Mind you, the Frenchies are not the only ones charging these days, more and more (supposedly) top restaurants are springing up with similar pricings. There is a pleasant exception, French restaurant L'Ecuyer, by many shortened to “the French Restaurant” on Ring Road, opposite the Fire Service Head Office, next to Honey Suckle (which altogether is a very different game). L'Ecuyer serves many traditional, simple, French dishes at reasonable prices (these days, is anything reasonable?), such as salade de tomates, fillet de boeuf au poivre ou grillé (beef with black pepper sauce, or grilled steak), and some African dishes as well, like Ivorian kedjenou and Senegalese chicken Yassa. They also have some Indian dishes. I often take one of their salads and a steak, which is an excellent piece of local meat, far tastier than the umpty times frozen and unfrozen stuff so many serve under the proud label of “imported”. And one can sit outside, which somehow makes everything different, though there is inside as well. Reservations for weekend lunches and dinners are advisable.

Song Titles I recently again came across a song by artiste Snoop Dogg, titled “Mother Fucker”. It reminded me of a friend who had an encounter with an undescript male when trying to step out of a lift at Shoprite, Osu, whilst the undescript male was trying to get in. The undescript male then suggested to my friend that he “go fuck yourself”, and my friend then asked undescript to teach him, as he, undescript, seemed to be knowledgeable on the subject. The shopping center's security guards then ended this conversation. And indeed, I wonder why Snoop Dogg needs such unusual song titles. Maybe I am getting old, well, then I am happier for it.
