Lydia's Weekly Lifestyle blog is for today's African girl, so no subject is taboo. My purpose is to share things that may interest today's African girl.

Exploring the Allure of AI fashion. One of the most extraordinary facets of AI fashion lies in its ability to push boundaries and defy conventions. Unencumbered by the limitations of traditional design processes, AI algorithms dream up creations that challenge our perceptions of beauty and style. Garments that shimmer with holographic hues, dresses that shift and morph with the wearer's movements, accessories that seem to pulse with a life of their own, the possibilities are as boundless as the algorithms that conceive them. But AI fashion is not just about aesthetics; it's also a testament to sustainability and efficiency. By optimizing production processes and minimizing waste, AI-powered fashion brands are pioneering a new era of eco-conscious design. From 3D-printed couture to personalized, made-to-order garments, AI technology is reshaping the industry in ways that are as transformative as they are necessary. As we navigate this brave new world of AI fashion, one thing becomes abundantly clear: the future of style is as unpredictable as it is exhilarating. With every algorithm-generated silhouette and digitally curated collection, we inch closer to a realm where creativity knows no bounds and innovation reigns supreme. So, dare to embrace the unknown, and let the allure of possibility guide you towards uncharted realms of discovery and growth.”

Babies or social media trends. South Korea, Asia's fourth-largest economy, is trying to halt the sharp decline in its birth rate, and policymakers are trying to convince those in their 20s and 30s that parenthood is a better investment than stylish clothes or fancy restaurants.

Putting Ghana on the world food map. Most of us mainly eat Waakye, Kenkey with fried fish, and Fufu with goat light soup, though of late pizzas, burgers, and shawarmas (some call these overpriced junk foods) have been added. But our own Midunu has been experimenting with African food, creating very tasty and unusual combinations like crab, shrimp, coconut, avocado, mango, cucumber and citrus, or red snapper, rice, coconut, amaranth, herbs and aromatics. Midunu has now been recognized as one of the 21 most progressive restaurants in the world by “the World 50 Best Restaurants. Chef Selassie Atadika advocates for the use of resilient local grains such as sorghum and millet, selecting local and seasonal ingredients, traditional proteins, and often-overlooked produce to bring Africa’s bounty to the table. Atadika also established the Midunu Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating, documenting, and preserving community recipes, food, and knowledge. A meal at Miduni could look like this: Plantain, coconut, palm oil, tomato and red pepper, mushroom, tamarind and okra, beef, corn, cheese, apple and sobolo, eggplant, corn, cheese, apple and sobolo, cocoa, white wild hibiscus, and mint, rum, pineapple, orange and ginger and will set you back about 1500 GHS. Yes, in Ghana, and normally the place is quite booked. Only reservations.

Divorce. I don’t think many who tie the knot plan to get divorced unless you want to go for the big kill and marry a rich guy, planning to take half of what he has in a divorce. A bit risky though, not all guys are daft, like Moroccan professional football player Achraf Hakimi who had put all his earnings with his mother, or the elderly rich man who took his young new wife to Hawaii for a long honeymoon, during that honeymoon used Hawaii laws to divorce her without her knowledge and when she filed for divorce a few years later the deal had already been done, with nothing for her. No, when you tie the knot you plan to have a happy life. But sometimes (in fact quite often) things turn out very differently. Years ago, to get a divorce one of the partners had to be found guilty, typically of adultery, and most times the man would provide pictures of himself in bed with another woman, and based on that the judge would dissolve the marriage. But things have changed, and today in many countries you can divorce by simply telling the judge that you are not compatible. Kids or not. And only Vatican City (where not many want to divorce anyway) and the Philippines do not allow divorce at all. Come the American elections, and Trump's second man JD Vance who is very much against divorce and tries to win votes by promising to reverse divorce laws and make divorce more difficult, based on religious principles. Christians are free to live according to their own values, that’s their right, but they are not free to impose their values on everyone else. Unhappy partners should stick together? Unfortunately many are more careful and critical as to what car to buy than how to choose a partner, so to avoid a life of misery after a too hastily decision people should be free to divorce. Like getting rid of a car that is only giving you trouble. Or?
