Lydia's Weekly Lifestyle blog is for today's African girl, so no subject is taboo. My purpose is to share things that may interest today's African girl.

This week's contributors: Lydia, Pépé Pépinière, this week's subjects: Embracing the Versatility of Abstract Silk, Burberry in Trouble, Deepfake, and The Full Moon

Embracing the Versatility of Abstract Silk: One of the most remarkable aspects of abstract designs in silk is their versatility. From flowing silk maxi dresses adorned with abstract prints to structured silk blouses featuring geometric patterns, there is a myriad of ways to incorporate abstract silk designs into your wardrobe. Whether you prefer subtle hints of abstract art or bold, eye-catching prints, there is a style to suit every taste and occasion. Opt for simple silhouettes and minimal accessories to allow the intricate designs to shine. Pair a colorful abstract silk blouse with tailored trousers for a chic office look, or dress up a flowing silk maxi dress with strappy sandals for a glamorous evening ensemble. Remember, confidence is the key to pulling off abstract silk designs with flair and panache. Abstract designs in silk embody the union of art and fashion, transforming clothing into wearable masterpieces. Whether you're drawn to bold, avant-garde prints or subtle, understated patterns, there is an abstract silk design

Burberry in Trouble. Founded in 1856 in the UK and originally known for its raincoats (they supplied more than half a million to the British army during World War 1) but later expanding into clothing, bags, footwear, accessories, and fragrances for women and men this company recently has hit the news several times with changes in top management and directions, and closures of shops. The company, till 1955, was owned by descendants of the original family, but then went from investment company to investment company and finally to the stock market in 2001. In 2023 they had a turnover of about 4 billion USD, earned by a total of 444 outlets which is 28000 USD sales per shop per day. What went wrong? With a public easily influenced by influencers, one easily misses a trend and at one time Burberry was very famous because it used to burn excess stocks to the tune of 30 million dollars per year to keep prices up, and when criticized they claimed that whilst burning they generated heat and used it to generate electricity. A few more public blunders did not help, they reduced prices for certain items which then became so popular that they became associated with football hooligans and at one time wearing Burberry in football stadia was forbidden, Frequent changes in key staff did not help either. Anyway, they just sacked their boss again and have now put Joshua Schulman as CEO, who will earn around 18 million USD per year, and he better know how to operate in the market as it is today, if not another British national pride may disappear. I am talking about fashion here, not football. Schulman was CEO of Michael Kors and worked with Coach, Jimmy Choo, Yves Saint Laurent, and Gucci.

Deepfake, deepthroat, how deep can you fall. Deep Throat was a 1972 landmark American pornographic film featuring Linda Lovelace. It is considered the forefront of the Golden Age of Porn (1969–1984). Since then the word deep unfortunately has somehow taken on additional meanings, and some of our boys think that deep is better, forgetting that we have very sensitive parts in certain places. AI allows you to change people's looks, we already had filters, now with a picture of your neighbour you can create a picture where that person is fully undressed, and send it to his friends because you have a score to settle. It is called deepfake. How deep can you fall indeed? Or, a step even further, send pictures of your neighbour caught in the act, or is it called caught in the app? Of course, you can fight these things, but the damage would have been done, and typically the law runs behind the facts and as always laws take years to become real laws. This is happening today, the victims are traumatized whilst the search engines and social media sites happily promote this type of content and allow you to upgrade so you get to the top of the page. Instagram, TikTok, and X are some of the culprits here. And the day that indeed you are caught and photographed in the act, you can deny it and say it is deep fake.

The Full Moon will be this Sunday, and the meteo previsions so far are half cloudy with some rain, but maybe we can see it. I’ll be at the top of Mc Carthy Hill where a friend celebrates his 76’s birthday and I’ll watch the sun go down over the Pambros salt ponds, which then turn incredibly beautiful colours, and then immediately after that, the moon will rise majestically. This is a blog about fashion, health, and lifestyles, so why the moon? It is healthy to remain connected to nature, including rain and shine, it has been proven that those who regularly interact with nature (for example by taking a walk in a park, or on a farm) have less depressions and are more healthy than people who only see concrete.
